Thirteen years ago, former Oakland Raider and Super Bowl  XI Champion Phil Villapiano (pictured left)  decided to join with the Muscular Dystrophy Association in creating an event to call attention to the devastating effects of ALS and raise funds for research.  Since its inception, The Field of Hope Gala has raised over $2 million.  When Phil was elected an MDA National Vice President, the Gala Committee unanimously voted to re-name the event The Phil Villapiano Field of Hope Gala in tribute to his outstanding commitment to the fight against ALS.
